Product overview

Porcelain insulator is an insulating part of power equipment made of electrical ceramics. Its main components include high-purity alumina, zirconia and other materials, and it has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, pressure resistance and corrosion resistance. Its structure usually consists of iron caps, porcelain pieces and steel feet, which are assembled by cement bonding and used for external insulation of high-voltage transmission lines and power station equipment. ‌

Structure and performance

Porcelain insulator consists of iron cap, porcelain parts and steel feet, which are fixed by cement bonding. The surface of porcelain is often covered with enamel to enhance mechanical strength and water resistance, which is suitable for complex environments from -50℃ to +500℃. ‌

Application scenario

It is mainly used for isolation and support between transmission lines, power station equipment and other charged bodies. It can be divided into high voltage and low voltage according to the voltage level. In the field of UHV transmission, cylindrical head structure design is adopted to improve performance stability. ‌

Technological development

Domestic technology has broken through the core processes such as semiconductor glaze manufacturing, and the products are widely used in major power projects at home and abroad. In 2024, porcelain insulators accounted for more than 50% in the procurement of UHV projects of State Grid.
